27 May Does Content Attract Search Engines?
Does Content Attract Search Engines? You might as well ask….does your product or service attract business? Or more basically….does the dog chase the rabbit for a meal? OF COURSE IT DOES!
It’s quite simple: People will come to your website if you feed them a rich diet of fresh, juicy information!
Let’s start by reading the Google Guidelines. If you want to know, just go to Google.com and sure enough, ha–they tell you. The first two items in their “Webmaster Guidelines” are all about navigation. To get Google’s attention, your site has to be easy to use–hierarchies, links, and a site map will get you to first base. To get to second base, it’s CONTENT that counts. What kind of content?
Google Guidelines say:
“Create a useful, information-rich site, and write pages that clearly and accurately describe your content. Think about the words users would type to find your pages, and make sure that your site actually includes those words within it.”
So next, it’s all about USEFUL INFORMATION and accurate KEY WORDS to help users find your information. And by the way, don’t over-do anything.
Don’t over-do! Don’t over-do key words; don’t overdo links; don’t over-do images, don’t over-do affiliate content.
Here’s one more “gem” on content from Google:
“However, some webmasters attempt to improve their page’s ranking and attract visitors by creating pages with many words but little or no authentic content. Google will take action against domains that try to rank more highly by just showing scraped or other auto-generated pages that don’t add any value to users.”
More on the focus of other search engines in blogs to come!
